New life begins...

Life is going to be so different now... with the new addition to my family - my boy Kiegan!

Have always wondered how my life would be if I became a mommy... Well, it's totally different. There is no MY lifestyle anymore. It's always to suit my newborn... Every morning now is a routine. Wake up wash up, bath Kiegan, make Kiegan sleep, take my breakfast, feed Kiegan etc. I get to sleep when he goes to sleep. Going out is even more challenging!

It's a blessing I have my mother in law staying with me. She took turns to help look after Kiegan (with the help of my helper - Cherly).

Just had baby shower for Kiegan briefly at my place with mainly relatives and some close friends. Time really flies! I was probably too sleep deprived that I didn't realise it's been a month already.

It's been a long while since my last inputs in my blog...
Some quick update of my life for now...

1) Change of job
I'm no longer working for Times Printers since last December... have moved on to KWF Printing which is located at Yishun. So far so good with colleagues there, except for 1 or 2. I blew my top at this female colleague few mths back, as I found out that she has been purposely delaying my jobs and been talking bad about me behind my back. My patience for her ended when I found out that she has, without my permission, turned on my computer & checking on my emails! Since then, it's only talk about work with her, 100%. period.

2) Moving to new house
Finally have moved into our new place at Hillview. No more hawker right below... Missed ABC market's food man! Supposed to be nearer to workplace but I am still reaching office late everyday!! Ha... Anyhow, it's been more than a month since we moved here... and we are still touching up on our house! Had alot of issues with our contractor (who happened to be my 20+ yrs old frd). Sigh!!!

Eythan has been very frustrated whenever he's home & spotted mistakes & bad workmanships... Hopefully our nightmare will end soon & we can peacefully enjoy this new house. Will slowly post more photos of our house soon... Meanwhile, here is the latest furnishing we've got last week, for our patio!

3) The new Tiger Club
I am now 23 weeks pregnant and my Tiger boy is expected to say hi come early Nov. So far, with all the new changes to my life (as mentioned above), I have not really enjoyed my pregnancy yet... Or will I? Maybe this is all for being pregnant. Heard about some women being super elated, some become depressed. For me, it's just simple happiness, esp. when he kicks hard. In another few weeks, these kicks will become hard to bear! Haha...

4) New Kid on the Block
Last sat we had a mini get-together at my eldest sis Suz's house. Ordered Shepherd's Pie + Pizza Hut and watched DVD! After reaching home at 1.30am & almost hitting my pillow at 2am, we've got the call from Suz that she seems to have broken her water bag and was on their way to Mt Alvernia to deliver! OMG... that whole night, we sisters couldn't really sleep due to the overwhelming excitement! Ha...

At 3.27am that night, baby "K.L." was out!! I am calling him K.L. for now as my sis have not decided on "Kyler Peck" or simple "Bai Kai Le" (chinese). K.L. weigh at a light 2.475kg & at 50cm long. Talking about him, I missed him now! Supposed to visit him again this evening but sis just informed that K.L. is "suntanning" til tomorrow, due to jaundice. :(

Today, I just want to say I miss my 'lil green at old place. I 'adopted' it from the rubbish bin & gave it a new potty from Daiso. Within weeks, it grew a new sprout.

I think it knew I was leaving the company & just withered few days before my last day there. :(

My new niece - Elysha

My sister popped on Halloween Day 30 Oct 2009 with this little one. In total, there are 5 Octo babies in my family. My dad, eldest sis, mom, Tino & now Elysha!

Now Elysha at her 3rd month, she is no longer too soft and is so adorable I got addicted to her smell. I love to smell her like a durian. Ha...

From such infant age, we can all tell that this lady here is obstinate and "yim gim". She doesn't like to be touched on her hands/fingers. Too bad now she is defenceless, we all just love kissing her all over!

This is weird... but I always open my photo albums just to look at her photos & videos and missing her. Sharon, on the other hand, always video call me so that I can look at her in the office or home. She makes all sorts of noises when sleeping or having her milk! Ha...

I did this collage of Elysha and her elder sister, Eiliyah when they were both 1 day old. Look at their resemblances!! Photocopied from same machines. Haha...

Let just see how pretty she will be when Elysha grows up.

Phuket 22-26 Nov 09

It was considered my best holiday todate! Such a romantic hotel, built just 3 yrs ago! To us, it is a 5 stars rated hotel.

For daily breakfast, you can opted to have it in your room, in the open terrace or by the pool. Shiok man!!

On our 2nd day, we went for the theatre show at Phuket Fantasea (http://www.phuket-fantasea.com). On the exterior, you can see 999 sculptures of elephants (considered as their sacred & worshipped animal). For S$20, we get to take a portrait with a tiger cub. Dinner was splendid! Wide range of food served like for royalties.

Eythan took this opportunity to tailor make a business suit. For G2000 price, you can get pretty decent all cotton suit.

Our next holiday!

I'm hooked on vacation holidays! Ha... So glad to know that Eythan has few days annual leave to clear before year end (and exams).

Planning...

We spent a short while visiting tour agencies at Pearl Centre (when treating my injured wrist recently) & shortlisted few vacation locations - Maldives, Mauritius, China, Phuket & Goldcoast.

I have always wanted to go Maldives/Mauritius for those ocean villas! Imagine you can dive straight into the clear blue sea right from the doors (and windows) of your room. Shiok!! Too bad, the one I like and with promotional rates is fully booked until Nov. :(

We explored China tours to JiuZaiGou. Scrapped this idea once I heard alot of time needed for the road. I don't want to end up puking on my vacation!

Finally booked Phuket 'cos Goldcoast's dates clashed with Eythan's new semester.

It was love at first sight when I spotted this small hotel on one of the websites. Never seen this around before! Check out the photos on their homepage.

They have daybeds on the big balcony!! Now we can finally sunbath in our own room! Yippeee...

Another good thing about this hotel is... It has free wifi! So Eythan & I will be bringing our own lappies there. Will post online real time photos when there next week 22nd - 26th Oct!!

It's been quite a long while since I log in to my blog for any serious updates. This has not seem to be on any of my topmost To-Do list lately.

Been searching for our new house & went few viewings at the following:

New launches
- Fontaine Perry = Nice... but seriously overpriced! :( Crazy crazy crazy...
- Hillvista @ Hillview = Very good location (near future mrt) but good units not launched yet.

Resales houses below (more affordable choice) :
- Ventana @ Pasir Panjang Hill (where I used to stay.) = Very exp location!
- D' Hillside Loft @ PP Hill again = Again, expensive!
- Palm Green @ Pasir Panjang Rd = Very dirty unit as few indian NTU students currently renting this place)
- Palm Haven @ Kovan = nice place as we went to see Yoke's sister, Adeline's 2 bedder unit. However pool is right infront of all 1st floor units.
- 28@Jansen @ Kovan = Just an ok condo with an ok pool. Not exciting.
- Palm Grove @ Kovan = our most ideal project so far. Almost bought a 3 bedroom there but was hit by the height of property prices. So we lost in our offer.
- Houses @ Thong Soon Green = where my SIL (sister in law) is staying = it's another consideration from condos. Different commitment, different budget, different future plans. Gotto think think think...

Going for a viewing later today again! Penthouse at Palm Grove. Hee... When & where will we buy?? Probably early next year cos waiting for price to soften... unless we see something we can't resist. I can't wait!

Last month I had this sudden cravings for DIM SUM!! Make some efforts to go different places for different dim sum with different people. Ha...

Went on weekday, very very quiet... But went again one weekend, this is what u get!!! Super long queue!!

After that May month of dim sum-ing, I stopped until now... Hope I will not get sick of it!

This night, Eythan & I were watching my favorite actor, Ashton Kutcher's comedy romance when we smelled something strong and burnt. 10 mins later, we received a blackout. The end of my movie + fan in a damn hot day in May!

Apparently, a fire broke out 2 storeys above! So... kpo nature kicked in and immediately we went took a look. Saw black smoke coming out from above and few firemen.

Soon we were asked to evacuate to the ground floor where we waited for an hour or so... Neighbours said that the resident is an indian and is always drunk. One said he always throw beer bottles from his window!

The next day, we went up to the unit for a (kpo) look again. Need to snap snap to show you guys mah!

The ceiling of the corridor is charred from the smoke.

The inside of the house are all charred at the aftermath.

Bad news for one family but good news for many. Days later the Unit No. #4520 of the said house came out 1st in the 4D!! Number not in sequence though but surely many people has benefitted.

Mothers Day!

Eythan brought 3 mothers (his mom & 2 aunts) for dinner for Mothers Day celebration.

We went Suntec to fetch the mothers after their concert at Convention Hall. They went for that concert performed by many popular Taiwan actors/actresses. In the car, these mothers suddenly became somewhat like our daughters! Haha... So excited about meeting which actor/actress, who is prettier and handsomer etc.

Brought them for zhi cha at our usual Geylang popular seafood restaurant.

For the 1st time, we ordered a new dish - Shark's cartilage (on its head, see below T-shaped bone). The staff recommended this dish for mothers because it's good for Guan Jie Yan (not sure what this is though).

As like many others, my company has implemented the recession strategies and what my GM assured is currently the "least painful" options. Every month from February, our plant and office will be shutdown for abt 4 days (compulsory annual leave).

I do have to agree with my GM. In fact, I kind of enjoying this option!

Now I can catch up with my long overdue plans to do my stuffs and also rest plenty! And PLAY!!

Was at Villa Bali with my friend this hot afternoon, enjoying a cold Czech beer & playing Scrabble. Lost a round and have to pay for the beer + snacks! #$%@!

Wedding night (not ours again!)

Recently we have attended a wedding of Eythan's ex-colleague at Jurong Bird Park. It suddenly dawned upon me that I have missed this tiny spot in Singapore for like ... almost 20 yrs??!

Anyway the park is so nice and oh, how I miss that smelly, musky stench (as if)! Ha...
Right at the main entrance, we were greeted by many mandarin ducks! So cute!!

In a few minutes walk, we arrived at the restuarant where the wedding was held. Our table was right at the glass wall where you see a small lake which was donned with many many many pink flamingoes! What a picturesque scene!! I was so overwhelmed by the view, I was least interested in the buffet spread.

Note: do not expect any nice picture with my new smart mobile phone now. Compromise, compromise, compromise... Sigh...

East Coast day

This is quite an old event which I didn't have the time to post it.

There was a weekend Jessie, my colleague and I went East Coast for our favorite Coffee Bean & hung around by the beach. The weather was pretty good and cool as we found a spot under a shady tree.
Just as I was in the relax mood, my friend said she was "going to have heat stroke" and have to pack! Argh...

We decided to go cycling... Never cycled for quite some time so we booked the bicycle for 2hrs. Just half hour cycling, the heavy clouds decided to pour!! $#%@... Well, we spent the rest of the afternoon inside this shelter with like 1,000 children!... Sigh...

Friday Night Movie

A friend gave us a free pair of movie tickets to Shaw & we went for "Marley & Me" at Lido. We were busy shopping so we ended up missed about 10mins to the show. We missed the front part where Marley started as a puppy!! *sob*

Anyway this show is over-rated. To me, it's just an ok one...

Finally got myself a Lacoste polo tee, which will not make me look round or wrapped! Ha... How can I not?? When Eythan is such an ardent fan of Lacoste! He MUST go into this shop whenever we are near & swear by this brand.

I always thought that their female apparels is boring... He always wanted to buy me one for like years but I just can't find any I fancy. Anyhow, I like this red "Vintage Wash" tee especially the logo is so unique. Damn cute! Wanted to buy another KID tee for myself but they feel so thin.

Finally got a chance to try the DIY popcorn I bought from Taiwan! I was actually quite excited when preparing it... Will it explode inside the microwave? What if they're not cooked or burnt after I opened? Ha...

The process in just 5 mins... After 1min, you can hear the popping sound & smell the sweet butter! It becomes so big after 4 mins I have to stand behind my kitchen door (in case it explodes!) Ha...

Actually I'm not really the movie popcorn person... Eythan is! He loves popcorn when watching movie whereas I prefer nacho. He always get what he likes as nacho is "more expensive" and heavy for our stomach! :(

Anyway Eythan finished the whole bag and as you can see, there are indeed many corns not popped yet, as the bottom! Wasted.

My Birthday 2009

Probably birthdays do not mean as much to me anymore or I've resigned myself to the aging destiny... This year's celebration was brief and simple with close friends.

6th Feb - Had a sumptuous dinner with my (ex)colleagues. We had zhicha at Bt Batok kopitiam! Yue Lee (whose birthday is just 1 day before me) & I shared a damn nice dark chocolate birthday, from Gin Thye Confectionery. Sinful night... Ha!

8th Feb - Had dinner with Abishag, Lydia & Matt @ Cafe Cartel, Siglap.

Forgot to take pictures as we were too absorb in chatting.

9th Feb - Met Shawn for dinner @ The Mussel Place, Vivo. Ordered many dishes with practically almost all mussels. Quite jelat at the end. Haha!

10th Feb - No special plans from Eythan. Last minute we decided to just settle for dinner at Sushi Tei (Holland V). It's been 2 mths since we last ate there.

Well, as usual, no present from him... So I demanded a Canon semi-pro camera! :p

11th Feb - Met up with Joni & Suzie at Holland V again, for dinner followed by Chai Latte at Coffee Bean. They got me a nice rosary and cute bracelet!

But then hello... I got him a $120 yoga mat and got nothing from him for Christmas! How fair is that??!! $#%^@

So I demanded a new HP - SEC905 from him and he unwillingly obliged. Hee... In the end, we are both happy people.... :p

We went Fullerton for the Countdown cum Fireworks on the eve of new year. Haha! No more Zouk and booze countdowns...

The time when millions of bored people like us took efforts & time to drive all the way there (in 1 single car), painstakingly find a parking lot there, walk miles to the right spot, stand among the sardines and enjoy that moment of 8 minutes fireworks! Sigh... Oh, and we ended the night with an hour stucked in the multi-story carpark! haha... What a new day it was...

Christmas 2008

It's my favorite time of the year again! This time Eythan went Christmas shopping with me. He has become more patient this time as we walked from Far East plaza to Plaza Singapura & back to Far East again!

His patience finally worn out when we reached the lift back to our house. Haha!

On 21 Dec, met up with Lydia & Matthew, Abi & Jewel, Linda & Jessie @ Central for our annual gift exchange. This is my first visit to Central & I don't think I will ever go back there again soon. :p That place is like a maze & too small for my shopping preference. However, I must say Coffee Club has quite a good panoramic view of boat quay!

On the eve of Christmas, we went Alvin & Angie's house @ Telok Blangah for celebration. He has 4 game machines at home! The boys immediately started their game & that got Eythan hooked for a while. He played so vigoriously he had 2 days of muscle ache after that!

Our 1st Anniversary - 20 Dec 2008

Instead of the usual getaway to a lavish spa resort in some island, we chose something very fun + economical + close to nature + never-done-it experience! That is CAMPING!

We have talked about this for the longest time but never had the chance, energy, time to really do it.

We reached East Coast park before it turned dark & pitched out tent under a big tree at Zone C. It was slightly crowded as it was a Friday. However, for our 1st try, we wanted somewhere not too isolated (for safety purpose).

We had snacks and watched movie in our small enclosed private area in a public place! Haha... Quite fun actually as it feels like our mini home!

Imagine waking up in the morning when the first light is out (abt 6.45am) by the sea, all you hear is birds chirping and the sound of the waves. It was heaven...

Time for a new look! It has been years since I last had a short boyish cut & I have been waiting since planning for my ROM (which has been 1 yr!).

On the spur of moment, went to my sister's saloon at Far East one Thursday. Not just cut off the shoulder length hair but also to give my hair a new colour for coming New Year. Somehow, the colour turned out more toned down than I expected. Nevertheless, I will do another hair colour treatment before CNY soon. Want to look RED!!!.... :p

For the 1st time, Eythan wants to watch a animated movie - BOLT. Today is the preview of this animation show so we zoom to Great World right after a quick change at home.

Due to the regular running schedules we now having, both our appetite has grown to XXL. I am eating rice for almost every meal.

Standard Chartered Marathon '08 Race Pack

The long awaited day is finally here, tomorrow!! We've prepared chocolates & cereals for our breakfast tomorrow. Eythan is going for 21km & me only 10km! :p This is both our 1st try.

Heard the queue was 2 hrs long for the collection of the Race Pack. Good thing I have my colleagues to do it for us! Hee... Once we got them, we immediately put them at home to see if they fit. Heng boy... both just nice for both of us.

We had steamboat the week earlier with our own friends... but its not the same with each other! Haha... so we 2 ended up at Bugis area again, for another round of Mala steamboat!

After dinner, its dessert time at Ah Chew dessert!! Yum... Love the Himalayan Papaya milk (Cold).

We just got ourselves each a iPod Shuffle for our regular running. So happy!... Only 1 GB but good enough with 240 songs and a new addition to my Mac lappie.

Green for the boy and Pink is for the gal...

Now we both have to start our intensive training for incoming Standard Chartered Marathon this 7 Dec. I am going for only 10km (not a marathon yet i think) and Eythan is going for 21km. Hee... It's our first participation only!

Our Bali getaway (10-13 Oct 08)

For the 1st time, we took MRT to the airport. In fact, we both have never took MRT together before! Anyway, we were 1 hour delayed (half from my dilly dally at home & half the time from SMRT's faulty mechanical problems with the train!!)

By the time we reached the airport, we ran all the way and was almost rejected entry (as the gate has opened). Good thing Eythan did e-checking the day before! Phew... On the way, I've already had enough of his grumble & reprimands, good thing we didn't miss the flight.

Everything about this trip is last minute, even booking the hotels. All the good ones are fully booked due to this peak season. We took a risk and book this Segara Village Hotel along Sanur beach (yes, die die must have beachfront!). When we reached the hotel, we immediately fell in love with this resort style hotel.

It is quite big actually, with lotus ponds and big gardens. Best of all, the pool is right by the beach! I chose this resort as it is newly renovated, and we don't really fancy balinese kind of furniture in the bedrooms. The room here is clean, bright & neat!

Girls trip to Taiwan (3-7 Oct 08)

My first trip to Taiwan... and the 2nd trip with the same people. Our last trip was >10yrs ago to KL! We had a list of the food to try there & we start on the very 1st day there.

Must try the Ah Zong Vermicelli. Yummy!

I love the Ma La steamboat (fire pot) too, esp. miss the pig's blood! Yucks for many but Yum for me!! Hee...

At Shi Lin market, we bought similar clothes and put them on the moment we reached the hotel room. Hahaha! We had such a good laugh!

Best part is, for the 1st time, we had to put on fake eyelash ourselves and each of us spent hours on that. At the end, we looked like drag queens. Hahaha....

F1 Grand Prix Simulation 210908

Got an invitation from a friend to go have fun in this Simulation Exercise for Formula One Grand Prix. Initially, it was just a favor because I wasn't keen on it. So glad I went eventually! Had so much fun! And I got Suzie to join me.

What we did all afternoon is to "race" around Turf City carpark & simulate the actual night race (which happened 28 Sept) around City Hall.

From 11am to 5pm, I used up 1/4 of petrol for less than 40km!

Now back all the stupid gantry systems on the congested roads...

The next day the event was reported in the Straits Times & my car was seen in one of the photos! Hee... What an eventful experience!

BJ (again...!!) & mooncakes

For the Mid Autumn Festival this year, Eythan bought another set of 4 BJ again! All because Cold Storage has slight discount for every purchase of 2. OMG... Nothing can stop him from buying. This time I have to impose his permissible weekly intake! >:(

At the same time, I had a mini Full Moon party with my colleagues as well. Bought Baileys, lanterns & cute mini (multi-flavor) mooncakes from Tung Lok... So much fun we had!

Due to our overwhelming craving for authentic Prawn Noodle, we invited a chef all the way from Penang! She made us this "faba-licious" dish, with the help of her son. They made the best (seriously!) pork ribs for this dish. Usually I skip the pork rib for this soup noodle but the ones they had in theirs were so sweet & tender I downed all *slurp*!

Been wanting to do Poi (fire juggling) for years! Finally, got an opportunity to try it out for the 1st time as we have guest performers here for the Bornfire Festival 2008. Never know that Eythan can be so sweet to accompany me there for the 2 days x 90mins workshop (with his Straits Times papers).

Had fun learning what we can do with such simple gear. Probably in few years time, I will be ready to dance with real fire!! Hee...

Olympics moments!

Nothing can keep Eythan away from home lately, not when there is Olympic games in the line.

For the first time in my life, I see him cry when watching TV! He never cries when we watch true sad stories or those weepy sad movies. Well, it is THAT glorious moment during the Olympic when an outstanding Olympian stood on the platform to receive the Gold medal (+ the music in the background).

The first time I thought he was just tired... It happened again this morning when Steffen (GER) & 41 yrs old Torres (USA) competed for the 50m women's swim and came soooo close - by 0.01 sec! As usual in my blogging sense, I quickly took out the camera & took a snap. Gotcha! Hee... His tears of joy!

Eythan was diagnosed with "non-aggressive" Hepatitis B Virus and I was lucky to be found not infected - yet!

So immediately (under doctor's advice), I took vaccinations for both Hep A+B. And in the meantime, just to make sure that I am 100% clear, we are advised to hold our baby plan for another month. :p

The visuals are definitely very "mummy" effect & I love it as much as the part 1. However, the storyline sucks!!

As for the gift, we bought it from Italy, and it's mainly for his work. I wanted to buy him this for a long time because he always have everything in this pants, and as a result, some pants gave way! Haha... No kidding!
Compared to brands like LV & Prada where the inside is fabric, this Bally pouch has got real good & soft leather, on the inside and outside! Never bought such expensive bday gifts for anyone in my entire life! (Well, he got me a LV... no choice! Ha...)

Went Vivo for a show and nice dinner the next day. The cinema was full house as it was the 1st day of Red Cliff. Luckily we booked online the day before.

It was 7am in the morning for my makeup at my sister’s house (at Serangoon) and I was still drowsy from running nose pills I took the night before. So not going to post any photos of “before” here! Haha…

The only Ah Yi who came on time was Diana, who wore a beautiful short gown from my bridal studio. We have to pull the strings to her dress so tight she screeeeeamed (if not, you will see her arms to her side all morning).

The rest of the girls came & immediately sprung into actions! They prepared the sabotage (as usual the Sour-Sweet-Bitter-Hot) and moved some furnitures in the house for the “stage” so that when the groom enters the room, he sees only Jewel, Abi’s little girl. Haha…

Sour = sour plums
Sweet = banana puree (Eythan’s nightmare)
Bitter = homemade bitter herbal tea (Eythan finished it alone cos it’s nothing to him)

Hot = wasabi in oreo cookies.

Part of the sabotage also includes getting them to sing “一人一半” using the giant “microphone” balloon (which Lydia inflated herself!), and the boys to wear funny wigs & do the pole dancing. It is usual for the Groom’s brothers to look stupid for this day! Haha…

Important Sunday! Betrothal 下娉/过大礼/纳彩

That morning, it seemed a little weird to intentionally display the customary practice to exchange the dowry items. However, we had as much fun as we could. My dad & Eythan's mom complete everything in a split second & I missed the act! Ended up got everyone to re-enact for me to snap in my camera. My family all shake head cos there is a blogger at home. :p

While Eythan went hand- delivered some relatives cards with his mom after that, me & my family went around this island to distribute our cards & the Teochew biscuits. With such big family, good thing we split the job as my dad went to my paternal side with my aunt and I went to my maternal side with my mom & sis. Ended at the final stop in the late afternoon.

These traditional teochew biscuits from Gin Thye Pastry are really tasty!

We have to distribute all the invite cards & necessary items to all our relatives tomorrow. It is going to be a long day boy!

Few of the most important items (Betrothal gifts 娉礼) for to present to a TeoChew bride's parent are as below:

- Hard liquor & Red packet.

The latter has to be exceptionally big (for more cash)! So cute...

- Teo Chew biscuits (1 for each family relative of the bride).

My dad told me the Teochew biscuit is "abt $6 per box, verrrry cheap", it turned out to be $18-20 each! We got the $20 ones because they look more presentable.

See how packed the rear of his car is with all 16 boxes!! And oh... we get to loan the traditional baskets for free!!

I think it is supposed to be distributed to relatives together with the biscuits.

We encountered a problem, the favorite canned pig trotter has recently been banned from China & it can no longer be found in Singapore! We've combed NTUC & Shengsiong and really can't find any.

Selecting Ballroom decor

The florist under the hotel is June Florist... Frankly, there is nothing much fantastic about their stuffs. All kinda boring & old fashioned. Disappointed why the theme wasn't set in line with what the hotel has to offer (for the table linings etc).

Eventually, I have no choice but to compromise with below few as they are not the worst! Sigh...

After that, we went Great World for a short walk, before our movie. This little boy saw the wheeler display & insisted on having some fun with that. At that moment, I felt like a mommy following behind him, hoping he will not crash onto the wall or worst, on someone!

Wedding Stuffs - BED

We decided to get a cheapest Queen sized bed & mattress over the weekend, with a tight budget of $800.

Bought a reasonably ok bed frame + pocketed mattress for $1k+. Although this matrimonial bed is only for temporary use, until we get a bigger house in 2-3 years time, we thought we might as well enjoy the use of it for awhile! Haha... With tight budget of that amount, abit tough man... Yippee, no more cramp & stiff bed!! Can't wait for new bed to arrive in June.

And we finally get to use the 100% silk bedlinen I bought from China in Feb! Spent almost S$1,800 on the complete set, including pillows with silkworm's solid excretory product! They said it circulates blood & treats headaches etc.

Last weekend was a busy week for us, and a fruitful one...

Went Chinatown to look for customary items for wedding day. Got a pair of the bedside Lamps 床头灯, 2 sets of Dragon/Phoenix candles 龙凤烛, red drapes 红彩 for main door and big big angbao for dowry $$. Wanted to cut down & simplify the event but the man at the shop commented that some of these are necessary.

This small shop is Doraemon! It has got a million items in there! See how many wedding red packets there are.

I prefer to work in a group... bigger the group the better, then I can do lesser... Haha! :p

The difference between me & Eythan is, he is much closer to all his relatives than me with mine, so it is much easier for him to communicate with his guests. My tactic is to get my sisters to help me make 1st contact with relatives, then I took over to invite them verbally & get RSVP.

Somebody commented that my handwriting is horrible... I do admit that, especially when I had to write in Chinese! The biggest joke is... my writing is not the worst!! Check out this written by my 1st sis, Fiona!! Hahaha... She very reluctantly allowed me to snap this "evidence".

We also found a 37 years old nude photo of hers at mom's house! Soooo funny!

My 2nd sis, Sophia took the effort to make us some fried ice-cream! Not bad huh...

Finally the day to discuss dowry is here!

As both our families gathered at the hotel private room for a nice meal, chit chatting & having beer, my eldest sis told us she has become a "sworn" shark conservationist & she is not going to have the shark's fin soup. Sad to say, I tried to after I saw the documentary video of the killing of sharks too... Argh!!! *slapping myself*

BUT who can resist something so special... Spinach broth Shark's Fin soup! Almost as determined as my sister said that, she ended up fighting over her that bowl with us eventually.

A final shot before we say goodbye and at the end the night, both families have not spoken a word about the dowry! Haha...

We brought my mother to Chinatown to get some accessories for her dress for our wedding, at the same time to look out for any wedding decor I may need for this BIG day.

(Psst!... E's mom has just tailor-made a 2-pc matt gold dress for herself & is only expected to collect end of May. Hee...)

Upon arrival of Pearl Centre, we spotted some traditional items required for a chinese wedding! Interesting stuffs!

Teapot set for tea ceremony; Double Happiness lamp for the bedroom (remember the traditional ones that burn on oil??); a pair of candles to burn overnight before the Groom picks the Bride (my sister told me somebody has to watch over the flame throughout the night & make sure that they cannot be out!) etc. Aiyo... So leh cheh la!... Will skip this then. Ha...

So many cute & nice teapot sets!! But I can't buy... cos many of my friends already have them & I am supposed to cut costs by borrowing... :(

Went Vivocity with A&A (i.e. Alvin & Angie) for our fav Dian Xiao Er dinner. Ended up with great disappointment! This may be the last time we go... sigh!

1) They have a change of staffs. No more the warm aunties & friendly young students... :"( New staffs are mostly non-locals & were rude.

2) The menu changed. Less valued for money & without our fav Mongolian Pork Ribs!

3) Eythan had arguement with the chinese national Manager over the soup, and who was not apologetic at all & was sarcastic! #$%@ Going to write an offiicial complaint letter to their Mgmt soon!

After his complaint letter to the Mgmt, their GM called Eythan personally to apologise & assure him that he will look into this matter. Good the customer service is still there...

The subject of complaint - the soup. Instead of having it served on porcelain ware, they now serve it on plastic bowl! Smaller portion & cold. Pathetic!

Went Pacific Coffee right after dinner, for our coffee & cheesecakes dessert! For Eythan, 2nd round of dinner... Burger King!

The food is generally good except that they are a little salty. We love the softshell glass noodle & tom yum soup & chicken wings & mango salad & mango glutinous rice. So much for our healthy diet!!... sigh...

If you like The Other (By Nicole Kidman), you will like this. The ending is so sad i cried! But it's more scary & spooky then sad. People in the theatre jumped & screamed. For Mr Fearless (i.e. Eythan), he also jumped ONCE! Haha... Thats mean this horror show is a success!

Wrapping things up for 2007, here are our Top Favorite food in Singapore.

1) Dian Xiao Er @ Vivo City
The 1st time we were there, we were so famished we couldn’t speak to each other cos all we talk about is food. When we had that plain rice in our mouth, it was such a heavenly feeling trust me! Even the rice can be this good… After so many same dinner set (herbal duck, mongolian pork ribs, century egg veg & soup), it is still having me thinking of it.

2) Pier Eleven @ Marina South

I must say their "Seared Foie Gras, caramelized grapes with honey balsamic" is the best! Melts in your mouth oh... (Pic 1).

Also tried their "Beer battered cod fish" (Pic 2 - left) & "Carppacio of Salmon with Truffle soy" (pic 2 - right) which are not bad. Don't really enjoyed the "Duck Confit, crusted orange & honey balsamic" though (Pic 2 centre)...

We've tried the lamb too (can't remember which of the 2 types they have) and surprisingly, it doesn't taste or smell too "lamby"!! Ha... I'm glad I finally get to enjoy lamb.
And and… the warm "Baked Chocolate with vanilla gelati"… Highly recommended!! (Pic 3).

3) Amber Hotel 1929 @ 50 Keong Saik Road
This is a boutique hotel at Chinatown. Very tastefully done up! And nope, we have not gone to the rooms but from the lobby & the restaurant, you can tell.
Anyway, the cod fish here is a to die for… It melts in your mouth, no joke!
Wasn't a blogger then so didn't take pic of the food. :p

Went T Dragon @ Excelsior S.C. to select our wedding cards. Looked for the simplest, least fanciful design out of a thousand. Ha... Anyway, final contenders are these 2 same designs, different colours. Make a guess which is the final chosen one?? :p

Had a hearty breakfast and reached our bridal studio, Thomson Bridal Studio @ Thomson Road early 9am plus, wearing our E&S tees! Feel like teen students again! Hee hee…

9am check for Indoor Shoots

Weather = Cool, slightly sunny

Mood = Very relaxed & fresh

Physical condition = Very energised & rested

LiShi, our makeup & hair artist, started working on our “Casual” looks as we want to have our red Swiss caps taken.

Eythan has to put some makeup too, if not he’ll look too reflective for the shoots. So funny he looked so caked & fake. Hahaha! We looked cute & acted 10 years younger for these shots.

Next, we changed into our evening gown/suit & had our 2nd layer of makeup. I must say the evening gown looks alittle too cute on me. Lime green satin & pink lace!! Quite a refreshing colour but it is a you-love-it-or-hate-it piece, be warned! I like it because it is new & clean, just hot from oven. The designer of this gown insisted this is the best evening gown for me, because my size just as his mannequin size - just nice. As a matter of fact, actually he said “you must dress younger so that you will not look too old beside Eythan”! Wahahaha!!… The truth hurts lor… but I like his frankness!

Coming next was our wedding gown/suit… and 3rd layer of makeup! This gown I chose also brand new item from the studio. Abit kua chang & grand but has to for my event I guess.

We had abit of “audience” while shooting at the shopfront. Posing like mannequinnes on display & prowling on the floor!! So awkward! Ha…

Had a chance to snap a shot on our photographer, Lili, when she was working on Eythan. When asked to pose, see how a professional becomes a little gal… act cute also! Hahaha…

For the mandarin Kwa outfits, we had more fun from the shootings as it’s definitely more relaxed & playful. Not going for any japanese or korean outfits as we feel they are quite meaningless…

Finally we are going for our outdoor shooting!

3pm check for Outdoor Shoots I – Dairy Farm

Weather = Evening Sun out, hot & windless

Mood = Quite tired after tonnes of makeup & thousands of poses

Physical condition = Hungry & thirsty (can’t drink too much else keep going toilet with heavy gown on)

Quite a wrong choice ‘cos veeery hot in late afternoon!! Eythan’s mom prayed for us in the morning for no rain. Forgot to tell her I need wind too! Ha… My outdoor gown was so tight at my chest I almost fainted there trust me...

6pm check for Outdoor Shoots II - Changi Beach

Weather = Sunny, getting dark

Mood = Exhausted, even after a short nap in the car

Physical condition = Weary

Our final shoot at Changi beach opposite NSRCC. Good thing the place wasn’t crowded for a Sat. We had few shots with my gown in the water & sand on my feet! Yee…

Lili (the photographer) wants me to go INTO the water (an adhoc plan!) and I changed into a short gown she handed me earlier in the day. Ey & I had to sit on the rocks where the ocean surface waves crashed. More yeeeee!!… By this time, the beach was getting dark & very cold… We finally realised it sucks to be a model!! Good thing we only need to do this once in our lives. Poor Lili ended up with foot blisters at the end of the day!

After we wrapped things up at bridal shop, we had a damn good food at the vicinity, Ms Clarity Cafe. (read more when I’ve done the “Food for Thought” section.)

Shanghai rendezvous 28 Feb

Eythan went Shanghai for work on 25 - 29 Feb & I was there too, but for holiday with 2 other colleagues from 28 Feb - 5 Mar. We managed to meet up on the 28th night for awhile (as 1.5 week can be too long to be away from each other! Ha...).

Eythan brought us to Shanghai's Jin Mao Tower, a 88 storey landmark skyscraper in Pudong District of Shanghai & opposite of Oriental Pearl Tower.

Bought this wedding paper cut from Shanghai near HuangPu River (not sure the name). So cute with our surnames on it! For S$16.00. it is indeed steep, for they charged by per head! Also saw this cute "Double Happiness" eggs in a pack, can't help not to buy that! Ha...

We are having our wedding photos taken this Sat & we can't think of what to wear for "casual" theme. Went shopping last Sunday, still didn't managed to get anything simply yet nice.

Hey, we thought! Why not print our own?? So I spent half a day on the design for our personalised Tee... Sent it for print this afternoon & *tataar!!*...

Not too bad I hope huh... If you noticed, the tees are of different white tone. Sigh! No other choices since so last minute.

Good news is... At least, it's uniquely ours eh!... Cool...

Bad news is... the one I got for HIM is too small!! Haha... Looks like the Groom is going to look like Superman with his spandex lor! Hahaha...

We used to buy 0866 as this was "his lantern" number given by the temple before CNY. As usual, after awhile, we conveniently forgot abt it.

Went past the Singapore Pools outlet last Sunday & I wanted to go in buy since queue was short finally! However, my lazy nap time kicked in so I thought we can do that later... then forgotten.

The mom came back with papers that night & I almost fell off my chair! Shoot!!!!!!!!... Finally came out for the 1st time & we didn't buy! $#%@

Recently on a trip to Shanghai, I bought a Pi Xiu*. Actually I was very attracted by the black Pi Xiu but the Master convinced me to have a green one as I told her I was looking for one that brings Health & Wealth.

CNY Day 4 - also my birthday 10 Feb!

Went Changi T3 to see my 2nd sis off to Sydney & same time, have a mini birthday celebration at Swensens with my family. Got a ice-cream birthday cake!

We 4 sisters tried playing with cherry stems and not bad... Can you tell who is the best kisser in our Teo family?? Haha... Actually I tricked them cos I pulled a little tightly while getting it out from my mouth! ahaha...
